"Fences, Okinawa," by Mao Ishikawa at the National Museum of Modern Art Tokyo

At the National Museum of Modern Art, Tokyo, the ongoing exhibition MOMAT Collection features Mao Ishikawa’s Fences, Okinawa, newly acquired by the museum in fiscal year 2024.

In relation to the exhibition, a recorded interview with Ishikawa, filmed in Okinawa this June has been released on the museum’s official YouTube channel.
Focusing on Fences, Okinawa, (1989–), Ishikawa shares stories from the time of shooting, her approach to engaging with her subjects, and the thoughts she entrusts to her photography.
