POETIC SCAPE is pleased to present “I Had Seen the Shore”, a solo exhibition by Emi Fukuyama. This marks her first solo show at the gallery in approximately four years, following A Trip to Europe in 2012.
We are also honored to host a gallery talk event on May 21 featuring guest photographer Koji Onaka. We look forward to welcoming you to the gallery.
Artist Statement
Between the other shore and me―many swells, large and small.
They were not flowing quickly, but they continued without end; it did not look easy to cross.
The place where I stand―is that, after all, the shore of this side?
Or―perhaps it is a small boat that floats along, having given itself up to the flow of the water.
While managing to stand on my swaying, unstable feet,
I saw a shore on the other side of the swells.
The shore was there, completely still.
It was that sort of year.
